The first year she was used as a family boat for holidays. Though in 1975, we started racing! And when I say we, I mean all members of the family. I was only 7 and my sister 14, but we were all involved in some way. My father and four of his friends including families went to Sandhamn in the archipelago of Stockholm, for our first, but not last, World Cup. Those were the early days of our families racing, which meant no hotel. We stayed over night, each night of the regatta, on board. We went up early in the mornings to get her ready for racing, and stayed up late at night, to get her ready for sleeping. But it was great! This was the beginning and the aim was not very high on performance on the regattas, but my father had not got enough. At last, in 1992 he won the trophy he aimed for, the Sira Cup! |

| Background After the 2nd World War ISABEL’s led keel was taken, the owner needed it for a new boat and it was a shortage of led at the time. It was replaced by an iron keel, which, as you all know, do not give the best of performance, it was too light. In 1981 my father decided to get ISABEL a new keel and so he did. He bought led (which he stored in our garden) and made ISABEL her led keel in 1982, which she still got. While he was at it, inspired by Intrepid the 12 metre, he decided to renew her keel and rudder design and today she has split keel and rudder. ISABEL had two decks on top of each other, and was leaking badly. My father decided to give ISABEL a new deck and a new design of the cockpit in 1986. To finish it all off he removed her interior for restoration and she was now a racer instead of a cruiser. |

Regattas It was not an easy decision to put ISABEL out for sale. She has been a family member for over 30 years and we hope that she will find a new owner to stay at for many years to come. |
