Emily is a classical International 8-metre racing yacht designed and built by William Fife III in 1924, with the yard number 725 and with the Lloyd's certification number 145838

She was the first Eight designed and build after the WWI and she was designed with the 1924 Olympics in mind.

After winning the British selection trials she represent England in the 1924 Olympics and won the Silver medal in the Eight metre class, under the ownership of Sir Ernest Ronney

She was restored in 1998 according to the original plans and specifications to the highest standards of workmanship. No compromises were made in the choice of the best woods like the Burmese teak, Honduras mahogany and American white Oak among others.

In 1999 Emily won the prize for the best restored and most beautiful eight meter competing against the famous Eight metres like Carron II, Catina VI, Aile VI, Germania III, Bamba ..... during the Eight Metre European Championships in France.

Hull construction:
Carved planking construction over bent wood frames in between laminated frames. Glue (aerodux) was only used in the laminated frames, every other part of the hull was either dovetailed, fastened with silicon bronze screws or hand riveted with copper nails.

Planking - tola with a thickness of 22 mm
Bentwood frames: American white oak.
Laminated frames - khaya mahogany.
Stem - solid Burmese teak.
Keel, sternpost - khaya mahogany.
Shelf and stringer - Oregon pine.
Extra Bilge stringer - spruce.

Hatches: Mail, middle and front hatches of clear varnished Honduras mahogany combined with solid Burmese teak over marine teak plywood.

Keel and keel floors:
Lead keel.

Keel bolts of stainless steel 316, two of them provided with bronze lifting eyes.

Original wrought iron floors combined with angle stainless steel floors, all black rubbed painted.

Mast and rigging ( New 2004 ):
Tapered hollow Alaskan spruce mast, double spreader and jumpers arrangement.

Standing rigging (double stay) in stainless steel, runners and preventers in covered white Kevlar by Gleinstein ropes, Germany.
