Tamatea was in storage in a "secure" yard in west Auckland while her owner, Andy Robinson was in Canada, when thieves got on board, attempted to steel some gear, and then set fire to her. Its devastating for Andy, his crew and all of the classic yacht fraternity her in New Zealand.
We are running out of time to do anything about saving Tamatea.
Is there likely to be any interest in saving this unique 8mR?
She is the one and only Arthur Robb designed 8mR
There is a high quality fully rigged model of her as well as a half model.
There is the original log of her while owned by the Newcomb family.
We have the skilled shipwrights and marine engineering draftsmen to lead the restoration
But we need the would be owner to pick up this special project and make it happen.
NZ Classic Yachts Ltd has the project management expertise to act as the owners representative, as demonstrated with the successful restorations of Prize, Tawera and now the Lady Gay.
