Yacht Club:

This yacht was designed by W. Fife in 1909 and built in Finland by the well known yard Abo Batvarf in 1910. Fife's records show the yacht was for a Mr Soderman, but her first appearance in Lloyd's Register is in 1911. The owners by then were the Tallberg family; the yacht had been raffled by Nyland's Yacht Club and won by the three year old Lucy Tallberg, hence the name. The girl's father then won a bronze medal in the 1912 Olympics; the first Olympic sailing medal for the new Finland There are two sets of drawings for the yacht, the later ones showing the addition of a deckhouse. It appears that the yacht was built with a flush deck, but by the Olympics of 1912 she had a deckhouse.
Construction
As common with Scandinavian practice, the yacht was constructed as a semi-composite vessel. This means that there are steel frames alternating with steamed elm timbers. It is intended intend to restore the hull to the original, using the same or similar materials where possible. The deck will be a tongue and grooved teak. All the deck structure to be varnished Brazilian mahogany (if available). All the deck fittings are to be polished bronze to original Fife patterns.

Accommodation
There are two accommodation plans in existence. Without the deckhouse, she would effectively be an open day boat. With the deckhouse, which would provide some shelter from the weather, she had two long settee / bunks below.

Sail Plan and Rig
The spars would be built from Sitka spruce, and mast fittings as original in mild steel. It is suggested that the standing rigging is of stainless steel, handed spliced at the lower ends and 'Norseman' fittings at the top ends. There are two sail plans, to go with the two General arrangements.
